Not the North, not the South: hookups in the Midlands
Ask where the North begins and someone will send you to the Watford Gap in Northamptonshire. Most people in the Midlands live above that line, yet the region isn't quite northern or southern. It borrows a bit from both and keeps its own character, town by town.
It's big, too. Twelve counties, from Herefordshire to Lincolnshire, held 10.9 million people at the 2021 census, split between two official regions with pages of their own: the West Midlands and the East Midlands. The cities run from Birmingham, the second-largest in the UK, through Coventry, Derby, Leicester and Nottingham to Lincoln, Stoke-on-Trent, Wolverhampton and Worcester.
Measure from the middle of it all and Ashby-de-la-Zouch is barely a mile away, with Burton upon Trent about seven miles off and Tamworth, Derby and Loughborough all around twelve. Live near any of them and you're surrounded by cities on every side.

The make-up of our members in and around the Midlands is close to the site's own. Women are just under three in ten. Nearly six in ten haven't reached 35, and the single largest band is 25 to 34, at about a third, while roughly a quarter are 45 or older. Does it matter whether I'm in the East or the West Midlands?
Not to your matches. They work on distance rather than regional lines, so someone in Burton upon Trent might match with people from Derby, Tamworth or Ashby-de-la-Zouch, whichever side of the divide they live. Join with your real nearest town and the distances take care of themselves.
