Shipston-on-Stour once had a railway station of its own, at the end of a branch line, but passenger trains stopped in 1929 and goods trains in 1960. Today the nearest station is Moreton-in-Marsh, about six miles south on the Cotswold Line. That shapes how meeting up works here: you reach the town by road, on the A3400 from Stratford-upon-Avon or Chipping Norton, or along the old Fosse Way just to the west.
