Skegness Hookups: Skegness Women Want to Meet

Sex in Skegness, in a resort that rebuilt itself

The original Skegness stood further east, at the mouth of the Wash, and a storm in the 1520s lost it to the sea. The village was rebuilt along the new shoreline as a small fishing and farming place, and the railway, which arrived in 1873, turned it into a resort. One guidebook calls it every inch the traditional English seaside town.

With 21,128 people at the 2021 census, Skegness is the largest place in East Lindsey. It takes in Winthorpe and Seacroft and shares a built-up area with Ingoldmells and Chapel St Leonards to the north, so a match from any of them lives on the same stretch of coast.

It runs on visitors. One estimate for 2015 put about a third of the town's working residents in jobs supported directly by tourism, over half of them in accommodation, food and drink. Hotels, restaurants and shops don't keep nine-to-five hours, so ask when someone finishes before you suggest a time, and keep the plan loose enough to survive a late one.
