Smethwick Hookups: Smethwick Women Want to Meet

No-strings fun for adults in Smethwick, with Birmingham, West Bromwich and Oldbury close by.

A town that has changed county twice knows how to move on

Smethwick is an industrial town in Sandwell, four miles west of Birmingham city centre, and it has been moved around a fair bit: first in Staffordshire, then in Worcestershire, now in the West Midlands. Its oldest surviving building is the Old Church, consecrated in 1732. A Grade I listed bridge of 1829 spans a canal and a railway, and it was the highest single-span bridge in the world when it went up. The Sandwell Aquatics Centre, in the Londonderry area, was used in the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

Roughly 54,000 people live in the built-up area, in districts such as Bearwood, Cape Hill and Black Patch and Soho. The town runs straight into its neighbours: West Bromwich and Oldbury to the north and west, and the Birmingham districts of Handsworth, Winson Green, Harborne, Edgbaston and Quinton to the south and east. For a hookup that means a change of scene is a short trip away, so you needn't plan everything around your own street.

A young crowd, from Birmingham to Tamworth

Pull out to 25 miles around Smethwick and the picture is a young one. The 25 to 34s lead at just over a third, the 18 to 24s follow at three in ten, and between them they are two in three of our members. Past 34 the numbers drop away: around one in eight for each of the next two decades, and only a little over one in twenty beyond 55. A little under a quarter are women. Members live in Birmingham, Solihull, Coventry, Wolverhampton, Tamworth, Glascote, Hednesford and Bridgnorth, a wide spread, which is why it helps that daily matches take distance into account.

Neutral ground in West Bromwich, Oldbury or Birmingham

West Bromwich and Oldbury are both 2.1 miles from Smethwick, Birmingham 2.9 and Rowley Regis 3.3. Halesowen, Dudley and Tipton are all within five miles, and Walsall is a little over six. The council boundaries are tight here: Smethwick shares Sandwell with West Bromwich, Oldbury, Rowley Regis and Tipton, Halesowen and Dudley belong to the Dudley borough, and Walsall has its own. A match on the far side of a boundary is still only a short trip.

Choose somewhere public for the first meeting, tell a friend the plan and organise your own way home. Every one of those neighbours has a page of its own, and the locations page links to them all.
