First dates by Minster Pool and in Beacon Park

The old centre is small enough to walk end to end, which makes a first meeting easy to arrange. Minster Pool is one of two lakes in the city centre, and Beacon Park hosts community events through the year; a stroll in either is a relaxed way to start before you find somewhere for a drink. The Guildhall and the 1850 Corn Exchange are landmarks nobody gets lost looking for.

Two fixtures give you a ready-made excuse. Burntwood, Tamworth and Burton for a change of scene

Lichfield sits between the high ground of Cannock Chase to the west and the valleys of the Trent and the Tame to the east, with a ring of towns close by. Burntwood is just over four miles away, Tamworth about six, and Fazeley, Hednesford and Sutton Coldfield all under eight. Cannock is under nine, Walsall about nine and a half, and Burton upon Trent under twelve. With that many places so near, meeting halfway is simple: pick a town neither of you lives in and take it from there.
