Hinckley has two cities either side and a battlefield next door

The site of the Battle of Bosworth has an interpretation centre on Ambion Hill, so a daytime visit gives you something to talk about besides each other. Hinckley itself is a market town of about 50,000 people, the third-largest settlement in Leicestershire after Leicester and Loughborough, sitting roughly halfway between Leicester and Coventry on the Warwickshire border.

Closer to home, the town museum fills a range of 17th-century timber-framed framework knitters' cottages and opens from Easter Monday to the end of October, with new exhibitions each season, and St Mary's Church in the centre dates from the 13th century. For a hookup that makes a pair of easy daylight meeting points, with plenty to talk about if the first date goes quiet.

Coming from Nuneaton or Atherstone

Nuneaton is four or five miles away and Atherstone under eight, both in Warwickshire, so either makes an easy first meeting without a long drive for anyone.

Coming from Coventry or Leicester

Hinckley is about 12 miles from both Coventry and Leicester, so it works as a fair halfway house where neither of you does all the travelling.

Coming from further out

Rugby is about twelve and a half miles away, and Fazeley, Tamworth and Ashby-de-la-Zouch are all around fifteen.
