Yorkshire Hookups: Yorkshire Women Want to Meet

Hookups for adults across God's Own County, from the Dales to the Humber.

Eight cities and God's Own County to hook up in

There's been no Sheriff of Yorkshire since 1974, and the old county runs nothing these days. It hardly matters. Yorkshire has kept a strong identity of its own, and the people who live here still call their countryside God's Own County.

It was once the largest county in the United Kingdom, split into three ridings, North, East and West, with the city of York governing itself. It ran from the Tees down to the Humber and the Don, and from the North Sea across to the Pennines. Inside those lines are eight cities, Leeds, Sheffield, Bradford, Doncaster, Wakefield, Hull, Ripon and York, and towns such as Huddersfield, Halifax, Barnsley, Bridlington, Skipton and Scarborough.

A place that size doesn't work as one patch. Treat it as a set of neighbourhoods instead: pick the cities nearest to you, set your distance, and keep the rest of Yorkshire for a weekend away. If you're in the middle, Knaresborough and Harrogate sit within two miles of the county's centre point, with Wetherby about seven miles off and Ripon under ten.

Cliff walks, student cities and the A1 between them

Yorkshire has a dozen universities. The largest, Sheffield Hallam and the University of Leeds, each teach more than 31,000 students, with Leeds Beckett next, and Leeds Arts University is the most recent to gain university status.

For a daytime first meeting with a view, the Heritage Coast is known for its rugged cliffs: jet at Whitby, limestone at Filey and chalk at Flamborough Head, and Spurn Point is Heritage Coast too. Getting about, the A1, the old Great North Road, runs through the middle of the county, the M62 crosses it from Hull towards Greater Manchester, and the M1 comes up from the south and swings east of Leeds to meet the A1. Going by bus or train? Allow for the wait: the average one at a Yorkshire stop or station is about 16 minutes. And before any first meeting, our hookup safety tips are a short read.
