Dorset Hookups: Dorset Women Want to Meet
Bournemouth seafront or a Dorset village: no-strings fun starts with a hello.
Casual sex in a county with no cities
There isn't a single city in Dorset. It's a county of small villages and only a few large towns, about 800,000 people spread across 1,024 square miles of chalk downs, limestone ridges and clay valleys, and its one big built-up area sits in the south-eastern corner.
That corner is where the people are: the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole council area alone is home to just over half the county. Bournemouth, the largest town, grew up in Georgian times when sea bathing caught on; Poole is the historic port beside it, and Christchurch and Ferndown complete the conurbation. Bournemouth and Christchurch were part of Hampshire until they joined Dorset, and the whole area is unlike the rest of the county. Beyond it, the principal towns are Weymouth, the resort on the south coast, and Dorchester in the south-centre.
So Dorset offers two quite different kinds of hookup: the conurbation, where a lot of people live a few miles apart, and the rural rest, where Weymouth and Dorchester are the natural meeting points and a match may be a village or two away.
Nearly two in three are 25 to 44 around Dorset
The crowd in and around Dorset sits in the middle years. A third of our members there are 25 to 34 and about three in ten are 35 to 44, while the 18 to 24s make up about one in seven and those 45 or over about one in five. About three in ten are women.
Some live in Bournemouth or Dorchester, some in small places like Hooke and Manston, and others further off in Ringwood, Southampton, Yeovil and Bath. Tell the site your nearest town and how far you'd go, and each day's match suggestions are built around both.

Gigs in Bournemouth, walks on the Jurassic Coast
For an evening date, the venues are mostly in the towns. Bournemouth has the Bournemouth International Centre, the Pavilion Theatre and the O2 Academy; Poole has the Lighthouse arts centre and is the base of the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, going since 1893; Weymouth has a Pavilion theatre of its own. In Dorchester, the Dorset Museum, founded in 1846, makes a calm daytime meeting.
By day, the coast is the draw. Most of Dorset's shoreline is part of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site, with Lulworth Cove, Durdle Door, Chesil Beach and the Isle of Portland along it. Summers here run warmer than in Devon or Cornwall, and the south coast counties get more sunshine than anywhere else in the UK, so an outdoor first date is a fair bet in summer.
First time, meet somewhere public, tell a friend, and make your own way home. Our hookup safety tips go through the rest.
Dorset hookups beyond Bournemouth
Is Bournemouth the only real choice in Dorset?
It's the biggest, and with Poole and Christchurch it forms the county's only large urban area, so it's the easiest place to find someone close by. But Weymouth and Dorchester anchor the rural rest of Dorset, and our members around the county come from villages as well as towns.
How far apart are Dorset's towns?
Close enough for an evening. From the middle of the county, Blandford Forum and Dorchester are both under ten miles away, Wareham about twelve, and Weymouth, Shaftesbury and Poole about fifteen, so meeting halfway is easy to arrange.
