Somerset Hookups: Somerset Women Want to Meet

Casual sex in Somerset, whether you live in Bath, in Taunton or out on the Levels.

Bath, Wells and the towns around the Levels

Only one city in England is smaller than Wells, and Somerset still has two of them. Bath, the biggest place in the county, sits in the north-east; Yeovil is in the south-east, Taunton, the county town, in the south-west, and the seaside resort of Weston-super-Mare in the north-west. Put Wells in the middle and you have the five places that frame the county.

Between them lies a lot of countryside. Just over a million people live in Somerset's 1,610 square miles, and the south and west are the most rural parts. The flat, wet Levels fill the centre; the Mendip Hills and a slice of the Cotswolds rise in the north-east; the Quantocks, part of the Blackdown Hills and most of Exmoor take up the west. That makes the larger towns the natural meeting points: Bath, Weston, Taunton, Yeovil and Bridgwater are the biggest urban areas, and the obvious places to meet for a first drink.

Coast walks and Glastonbury Tor for a first date

Somerset has 40 miles of coast on the Bristol Channel and the Severn Estuary, and its main seaside towns run like this, from west to north-east:

  • Minehead
  • Watchet
  • Burnham-on-Sea
  • Weston-super-Mare
  • Clevedon
  • Portishead

Only one tidal range on Earth beats the Bristol Channel's: at Burnham-on-Sea a spring tide rises and falls by more than 12 metres, so check the tide before you suggest a walk on the sand. Weston-super-Mare is the big resort, and Minehead holds the western end of the coast.

Inland, Glastonbury Tor and the Abbey give a daytime date something to talk about: a legend links the Tor with Avalon, and Glastonbury was already an important religious centre by the year 700. Pick somewhere with people around for the first meeting, and give a friend the details. If anyone on the site crosses a line, the safety page shows you how to block and report them.

Getting together across Somerset

Where should we meet if we live at opposite ends of Somerset?

Somewhere near the middle. Bridgwater and Glastonbury both sit within about seven miles of the heart of the county, and Wells and Taunton aren't much further. Pick a public spot in town for the first drink and agree how you're both getting home.

Are Bristol and Bath within reach from Somerset?

They are. Bristol borders the county to the north and its members are part of the picture around Somerset, while Bath is the county's own largest city. VIP members can search by city as well as by distance, handy when the person you're after lives in one particular town.
