Watchet Hookups: Watchet Women Want to Meet
Something casual in the old harbour town on Bridgwater Bay.
Watchet hookups, minus the Viking raid
Watchet has come through a Viking attack, several severe storms and the end of the iron ore trade, and it's still here: a harbour town of about 3,950 people where the Washford River meets Bridgwater Bay, on the edge of Exmoor National Park.
The first settlement may have been up at Daw's Castle, an Iron Age fort, before people moved down to the river mouth and a small harbour grew. The Saxons called the place Weced. Later the harbour handled goods from Wansbrough Paper Mill and, in the 19th century, iron ore brought from the Brendon Hills on the West Somerset Mineral Railway, most of it shipped to Newport for the Ebbw Vale steelworks.
In a town of under 4,000, a little care goes a long way. Your profile gives a username and the town you've set as nearest, which is plenty for a first chat and tells nobody where you live.
Every decade in the mix around Watchet
Within 40 miles of Watchet, the age bands are close to level: each of the five holds roughly a fifth of our members, give or take a couple of points, from the 18 to 24s right up to the over-55s. About a quarter are women.
Ages of our members within 40 miles of Watchet, today.
Those members come from Bristol and Avonmouth, Weston-super-Mare, Yeovil, Hooke and Marshfield, and from Cardiff and Barry, which gives the old harbour's link across the Channel a fresh purpose. If you'd rather stay on this side of the water, set your distance to suit.
Minehead for something quick, Taunton for some distance
Close by: Minehead is under seven miles to the west, near enough for a drink on a weeknight without anybody missing you.
Further out: Taunton and Bridgwater are both about 15 miles off, to the south-east and east, and so is Burnham-on-Sea and Highbridge.
Wherever you go, pick somewhere with people about for the first meeting and make sure a friend knows where you are. If anyone turns pushy, report or block them from inside the site. Our hookups near me page goes into how distance and location work on the site, if you want to fine-tune who you see.
