Greater Manchester Hookups: Greater Manchester Women Want to Meet
Casual sex and no-strings fun in all ten boroughs, from Wigan to the Pennine edge.
Stitched together in 1974, packed with people now
Greater Manchester only dates from 1 April 1974, when it was pieced together from south-east Lancashire, north-east Cheshire and a sliver of Yorkshire. It's now home to about three million people, the third most populous county in England, and most of its towns run together into one built-up area, the second most populous in the UK. Ten boroughs share it:
- Manchester
- Salford
- Bolton
- Bury
- Oldham
- Rochdale
- Stockport
- Tameside
- Trafford
- Wigan
The city of Manchester sits in the centre with Salford right beside it to the west. Rochdale is in the north-east, Stockport in the south-east, Sale in the south-west, Bolton in the north-west and Wigan out in the far north-west corner, with the Pennines rising behind the northern and eastern towns.
Six in ten under 35, and more over-55s than usual
Our members in and around Greater Manchester split evenly at the young end: the 18 to 24s and the 25 to 34s each account for three members in ten, so students and young professionals alike will find their own age group well stocked. The other four in ten are spread across the older groups, and the over-55s, at about one in eight, make up a bigger slice here than on the site as a whole. Women are nearly three in ten. Besides Manchester, members come from Middleton, Rochdale, Bolton and Guide Bridge, and from Huddersfield, Burnley and Northwich further out.

Oxford Road, the mill towns and a drier sky than you'd think
Six universities and the Royal Northern College of Music had more than 100,000 students between them in 2007, the third-highest total in England, and most of those students are concentrated along Oxford Road in Manchester, the largest urban higher education precinct in Europe. If you're after someone young, that's where to look.
Out in the boroughs, the old mill towns carry a lot of history (the world's first cotton mill went up in Royton), and Bolton, Wigan, Rochdale and Stockport are large towns in their own right, so a first drink needn't mean a trip into the city.
And the rain? The county gets about 807 mm a year, well under the UK average of 1,125 mm, so an outdoor first date is less of a gamble than the jokes suggest. Keep that first meeting somewhere with people around, and give our hookup safety tips a read beforehand.
Hooking up across the ten boroughs
Will I match with people from outside Greater Manchester?
Yes, if they're within reach. Our members in and around the county include people in Huddersfield, Burnley and Northwich, and VIP members can search by city and distance, which helps if work takes you away a lot.
I'm in Wigan and they're in Stockport. Where do we meet?
Somewhere in the middle. Wigan is out in the far north-west and Stockport in the south-east, with Manchester and Salford in between, so the city centre makes a fair halfway point. If it goes well, take turns travelling after that.
