Only two island towns in Scotland are bigger than Stornoway: Kirkwall in Orkney and Lerwick in Shetland.

Meeting up when there is sea in the way

Look across it and the closest places we cover are Ullapool, about 50 miles off, and Portree, about 55, both as the crow flies, with Inverness nearer 95.
