Plymouth Hookups: Plymouth Women Want to Meet
Meet on the Hoe, look out over the Sound, and see where the night takes you.
No-strings Plymouth, from the Hoe to Devonport
About 271,000 people live between the Plym and the Tamar, which makes Plymouth the most populous place in Devon and the second city of the South West after Bristol.
It's a navy city at heart. The fleet that beat the Spanish Armada sailed from here in 1588, the Royal Navy has had a dockyard on the Tamar since 1690, and Devonport is still the only UK naval base that refits nuclear submarines. Defence employs more than 12,000 people, around 7,500 of them in the armed forces. Then there are the students: the University of Plymouth alone teaches over 23,000, with Plymouth Marjon University and the Arts University Plymouth on top.
Dating in Plymouth doesn't have to mean dinner, a film and a polite peck on the cheek. If what you're after is a hookup, HookUps.co.uk lets you say so from the start, see who's around and meet only when you both want to. And for Plymouth hookups there's a bonus: Cornwall starts just over the river.
Meet on the Hoe, with the Sound in front of you
Plymouth Hoe is the obvious first meeting place. It's a flat, open public space on top of limestone cliffs, looking out across Plymouth Sound to Drake's Island, with the Breakwater, in use since 1814, sheltering the water beyond. It's easy to find, it's public, and either of you can walk away if the spark isn't there.
The weather is on your side more often than you'd think. Plymouth is one of the mildest cities in Britain and one of the warmest in winter, mild enough for palm trees, so the cold rarely spoils a walk, even if the rain sometimes does. The city centre, largely rebuilt after the Plymouth Blitz, is the other natural option, and Plympton and Plymstock, both part of the city since 1967, sit on the far side of the Plym if you'd rather meet nearer home.
Before you meet, five minutes with our hookup safety tips is time well spent.
Who you could be chatting to in Plymouth
Plymouth itself is one of the places our members sign up from, and the chart below takes in members right across England. It leans young: almost six in ten are under 35, the 25 to 34s just ahead of the 18 to 24s, and only a little over one in five is 45 or older. Roughly three in ten are women.
Ages of our members across England, today.
Across the UK, women on the site are most often 25 to 34, about half of them, while the men lean younger, with 18 to 24 their biggest group. New people keep arriving too: around 300 joined in the last three months.
Hookups on both sides of the Tamar
The Tamar is the county line, and Cornwall begins on the far bank. Torpoint is just over two miles from the city and Saltash about four and a half, both on the Cornish side. Back in Devon, Ivybridge is ten miles away and Tavistock about twelve, while Liskeard (15) and Totnes (about 20) mark the edge of a comfortable evening's drive. Exeter is 36 miles up the road for a bigger change of scene.
Plymouth hookups in plain English
Is HookUps.co.uk a dating agency for Plymouth?
No. There's no matchmaker picking for you: you build a profile, browse members and message whoever you fancy. Daily suggestions weigh up distance, age and what people are looking for, so someone in Saltash can turn up alongside someone in the city.
Where should a first meeting in Plymouth be?
Somewhere open and public that's easy to walk away from. The Hoe in daylight works well, with the Sound in front of you and space to talk. Keep anything private for when you've both decided.
I live in Saltash or Torpoint. Is this page for me?
It is, though each town has its own page too. Both sit just over the Tamar, Torpoint about two miles from the city and Saltash about four and a half. Put your actual nearest town on your profile so your daily matches can tell who's close.
