Merseyside Hookups: Merseyside Women Want to Meet

No-strings fun on both banks of the Mersey, from Southport down to the Wirral.

Pick a bank of the Mersey, or both

The Mersey cuts the county in two. On the west bank is the Wirral, with Birkenhead looking straight across the water at Liverpool. On the east bank sit Liverpool itself, Knowsley and Sefton, with St Helens out to the east and Southport up at the northern end. Two tunnels, the Wirral line on Merseyrail and the Mersey Ferry tie the halves together, so a date on the other side of the river is no great expedition.

It's a crowded county, too: nearly 1.5 million people in 249 square miles, and heavily built up. Liverpool grew into a major port on the back of the estuary, Birkenhead built ships, and the area gave the world the first inter-city railway and the first publicly funded civic park. For a hookup, that adds up to a lot of people, short distances and several ways home.

An under-35 crowd on both banks of the river

More than four in ten of our members in and around Merseyside are 25 to 34, comfortably the largest group, and another quarter are 18 to 24, which puts seven in ten under 35. After a thin band of 35 to 44s comes a solid group aged 45 to 54, about one in five, while the over-55s are rare. One member in five is a woman. Liverpool and Southport account for some of the membership here, Bidston for more, and Chester, Wigan, Pemberton and Glazebury round off the list.

Aintree, Haydock and Hoylake make easy first dates

Racing and sport

Aintree hosts the Grand National and Haydock Park puts on plenty more. Everton, Liverpool and Tranmere Rovers play their football here and St Helens have their rugby league side, so a busy race day or match day gives a first hello somewhere lively to happen.

Sea air

Hoylake is the place for sand yachting and hosts sailing too, there's a ski slope at The Oval, and the county's golf courses include Royal Birkdale, Royal Liverpool and Hillside. A breezy afternoon outdoors makes for an easy, unhurried first meeting.

Wallasey and Bootle have pages of their own, and Maghull is under ten miles from the middle of the county. If a hookups near me search brought you here, the near-me page explains how the town you pick affects who turns up in your matches.

Crossing the river for a hookup

I'm on the Wirral. Can I meet someone from Liverpool?

Easily. The two tunnels, the Merseyrail Wirral line and the ferry all cross the river, so Liverpool is close at hand from Birkenhead or Wallasey. Set the Wirral town you actually live in, and Liverpool's members are only a river away.

What's a good first date on Merseyside that isn't just a pub?

A trip across on the Mersey Ferry, a day at the races at Aintree or Haydock Park, or a walk on the sands at Hoylake while the sand yachts go by. All of them are public, and all of them are easy to walk away from if the spark isn't there.
