Birkenhead Hookups: Birkenhead Women Want to Meet
No-strings company for adults in Birkenhead and across the Mersey, with Liverpool under two miles off.
Hookups with Liverpool a river crossing away
The Mersey Ferry dates back to the 12th century, so Birkenhead has been eyeing Liverpool across the water for a very long time.
Birkenhead is an industrial port town on the Wirral Peninsula, on the west bank of the river and directly opposite Liverpool. It belonged to Cheshire until 1974, when it became part of Merseyside, and Birkenhead Priory is from the same century as the ferry.
The 19th century made the modern town. Shipbuilding grew into the firm that became Cammell Laird, a seaport followed, and Birkenhead Park and Hamilton Square were laid out as the streets spread. Britain's first street tramway was built here, and then the Mersey Railway, whose tunnel was the first railway tunnel anywhere to run beneath a tidal estuary.
The 20th century was harder. Containerisation cut port activity, the town went through a long decline, and the Wirral Waters scheme has been putting offices and homes on much of the old dockland. Around 110,000 people live in the built-up area.

Meet in the park or cross the river
Stay on the Wirral
Birkenhead Park and Hamilton Square were both laid out as the town grew, and they are the sort of public places a first meeting wants: easy to name in a message, with other people about.
Cross the Mersey
The ferry is more than 800 years old, and in the 19th century the Mersey Railway tunnel joined the two banks for good. Liverpool is under two miles away in a straight line, so a match on the other side is closer than the river makes it feel.
If you are crossing the water for the date, plan how you will get back before you leave and tell a friend which side of the Mersey you will be on. Our safety page explains blocking and reporting, so you know how they work before you ever need them.
From Wallasey to Widnes
Wallasey is under three miles away and Bootle about five. Maghull is nine miles off and Ellesmere Port a shade more, with Widnes at nearly twelve and Runcorn just beyond. Further out, members come from Chester, Northwich, Southport, Wigan and Leyland, so if your match lives that way, meeting halfway is just a matter of picking a town on the map.
