Ormskirk is a market town in West Lancashire, about 13 miles north-east of Liverpool and part of the city's wider commuting area.

The station is the shortcut to a first meeting. Regular Merseyrail services run to Liverpool Central and Northern Trains services run to Preston, so you can pick a city, leave the car at home and plan the way back before you plan the drink. Closer to home, Maghull is about four miles away, Skelmersdale four and a half and Southport seven and a half, with Bootle nine miles off and St Helens and Wigan a little over ten.
