Dawlish Hookups: Dawlish Women Want to Meet
Close to 1,800 hours of sunshine a year, and no strings attached.
Sunshine, sea air and Dawlish hookups
Nearly 1,800 hours of sunshine a year put Dawlish among the sunniest places in Britain.
Frost and snow hardly show up, and palms, olives, bananas and lemons grow outdoors. Along with Teignmouth and Torbay it gets called the English Riviera, and it got into the seaside business early: a small fishing port that became a resort in the 18th century, a hundred years or so before Teignmouth did the same.
It's still a small town, around 15,000 people at the 2021 census, though that was up by a sixth in ten years, and it sits on the coast 12 miles south of Exeter with Torquay roughly the same distance the other way. Care homes make health and social work its largest employer, with hotels, cafes and restaurants next. In a place this size, someone you match with may live a few streets away, so it's worth using the whole coastline: Teignmouth, Exmouth and Torquay are all within nine miles.
Strand coffees and seafront evenings in Dawlish
In the town centre
The centre runs along The Strand, Queen Street, Brunswick Place and Park Road, with cafes, bakeries, restaurants and pubs, and a newer crop of art, craft and antiques shops for an afternoon browse. Agreeing to meet on The Strand is about all the directions anyone needs.
By the station and the sea
Piermont Place, by the station and the seafront, has ice-cream shops, a cafe, a restaurant and a sports bar with outdoor seating, which makes it the natural spot for anyone arriving by train. On a calm evening the front is the obvious walk. In autumn and winter, though, low pressure moving up the Channel can whip up easterly winds and storm surges along the seafront, so look at the forecast before you promise a stroll.
Make the first meeting a public one and tell someone where you'll be. If anyone oversteps the mark, you can block or report them from inside the site, and our safety page has the details.
Under-25s, over-55s and everyone in between
A quarter of our members within 60 miles of Dawlish are 18 to 24, the largest single group. After that it's remarkably even: the 25 to 34s, 35 to 44s, 45 to 54s and over-55s each come in at close to one in five. Women make up a little under a fifth. The 60-mile circle includes Teignmouth and Torquay on the doorstep, Plymouth to the west, and Dorchester, Yeovil and Weston-super-Mare further afield. For a town of 15,000, that wide circle is the point, so set your distance to match how far you're happy to go.
