Craigavon began as a plan in 1965: the heart of a new linear city that would join Lurgan and Portadown.

The grand scheme was mostly dropped, and later described as flawed, but the town went up anyway, beside a pair of artificial lakes, and locals use the name for the whole urban area between the two older towns. It is laid out in districts: Brownlow, the big residential area, Mandeville, a smaller one, and Highfield in the middle, home to a large shopping centre, the courthouse and the council headquarters.

Round the lakes there is a public park and wildlife haven, with woodland trails to fall back on if the conversation flags, plus a watersports centre, a golf course and a ski slope. In most of Craigavon, traffic and pedestrians are kept apart and roundabouts do the work of junctions, so give your date a roundabout to aim for rather than a street name. That separation also means the walk to your meeting place can keep clear of the traffic, which suits a daytime first date.
