Rochester Hookups: Rochester Women Want to Meet

Hookups in Rochester, city or not

Rochester was a city until 1998, when it lost the title after Medway was formed, the first city in the UK ever to do so, and the campaign to get it back is still going. Whatever you call it, it's a port town at the lowest bridging point of the River Medway, about 30 miles from London, and it runs straight into Chatham, Gillingham, Strood and Rainham to make one continuous built-up area.

The old city still shows. Rochester Castle has one of the best-preserved keeps in England or France, and the cathedral is the centre of the second-oldest diocese in the country. Tourism is now part of how the town earns its living, and for a hookup that helps: visitors are a normal sight, so meeting someone new in the centre draws no attention at all.

Meeting points in and around Rochester

The castle

A castle keep is an easy landmark to agree on, and it gives you something to talk about if the first few minutes need help.

May Day

Since 1980 the Sweeps Festival has brought back the old Jack-in-the-Green tradition of dancing chimney sweeps, which had died out early in the 20th century. A festival day is a relaxed excuse to say hello in person.

The towns next door

Chatham is about a mile away and Gillingham under two, so a match in either is barely a trip. Maidstone, around eight and a half miles off, widens the choice.

However you plan it, make the first meeting a public one and tell a friend where you'll be. Want to look further along the Medway or over the estuary? The locations page has every town we cover.
