Brighton Hookups: Brighton Women Want to Meet

Seaside hookups and casual sex in Brighton, Hove and along the coast.

Brighton hookups in London's seaside city

The railway reached Brighton in 1841, and a fashionable Regency resort became London's day out by the sea.

Many of its landmarks went up in the decades that followed, the Palace Pier and the West Pier among them, alongside the Royal Pavilion, the Indian-style former royal palace that came just before. Brighton is now part of the city of Brighton and Hove, about 284,000 people between the South Downs and the Channel, 47 miles south of London.

It's a city weighted towards adults. Compared with the national average it has fewer older residents and a large share of people aged 20 to 44. It also has a long LGBT-friendly history: at the 2021 census about one in nine people here identified as lesbian, gay or bisexual, against around one in thirty nationally. Whoever you're looking for, sex in Brighton starts with your profile: set who you want to meet and your daily matches follow suit.

Flirt in the Lanes, walk it off on the beach

Head down from the station towards the sea and the first place you reach is the North Laine, a mostly pedestrianised spread of independent shops and leisure around Trafalgar Street, Kensington Gardens, Sydney Street, Gardner Street and Bond Street. Laine comes from an Anglo-Saxon word for fields, though plenty of people call it the North Lanes. The Lanes proper are just south of it. Between them they're the easiest part of the city to suggest for a first meeting: central, public and full of places to carry on if it's going well.

Then there's the seafront, with 5.4 miles of shingle beach inside the city, a flat, sandy foreshore that appears at low tide, and the Palace Pier. If neither of you knows the streets, the Royal Pavilion makes an easy landmark to meet by.

Meet somewhere public, keep your phone charged and tell a friend where you'll be. The safety page has the rest, from blocking someone to reporting a profile.

More hookups around the bay

The Sussex coast curves in a wide, shallow bay from Selsey Bill to Beachy Head, and Brighton sits near the middle of it, so a long stretch of coast is within reach. Shoreham-by-Sea and Peacehaven are about six miles away, Lewes seven and Newhaven nine, with Burgess Hill, Steyning and Worthing all around nine or ten. Hove is part of the same city. For someone further along the coast, pick a station between you and meet halfway.
