Kensington Hookups: Kensington Women Want to Meet

No-strings fun for adults in Kensington, from the High Street to the park and the museums.

A first date writes itself in Kensington

Kensington has a park, a High Street and a stretch of museums, which is three good reasons to leave the house before the evening even starts.

Kensington Gardens fill the north-east corner of the area. Kensington High Street, mostly upmarket shops, forms its commercial heart, while South Kensington and Gloucester Road hold Imperial College London, the Royal College of Music and the Natural History and Science museums. Many embassies and consulates are based here too, in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, about three miles west of Charing Cross.

That makes daytime the easy time to start something here. A wander through the Gardens or an hour in a museum gives you something to talk about, a natural exit if the spark isn't there, and a quick way to find out whether it survives daylight. Save the rest of the evening for when you both want it.

Young, and not short of women: the crowd near Kensington

For every ten of our members within 25 miles of Kensington, about seven are under 35, where across the whole site it is nearer six. A third are 18 to 24 and a little more than a third are 25 to 34. The 35 to 44s come to roughly one in five, and the over-45s to about one in eight. Women make up more than a third of the circle, which beats the site's overall three in ten.

The towns they log in from include London itself, Hounslow, Watford, Bromley and Harlow, so a match may be round the corner or a fair way out.

Hammersmith, Fulham or Soho: meet along the line

Nearly everything runs east to west here. Cromwell Road leads east into central London and west to Hounslow and Heathrow, Kensington Road runs parallel to the north, and Fulham Road heads south-west. Nothing runs cleanly from north to south, so if you and a match live on opposite sides, agree on a spot along the line, not across it.

High Street Kensington, Gloucester Road and South Kensington are all Circle line stations, tying the area to London's railway terminals, so a match from further out has an easy way in. Kensington Road leads on to Hammersmith, 1.6 miles away, and Fulham Road to Fulham, 1.4, while Soho is 2.7 miles away.

The Gardens, the High Street and the museums all make "somewhere public" easy to find. Tell a friend the plan, keep the trip home in your own hands, and read the safety page for how blocking and reporting work.
