The old centre of Havant stands on a classic crossroads. North Street, East Street, South Street and West Street meet at St Faith's Church, one of those lines is a known Roman road, and a small Celtic settlement was here before the Romans arrived. Closer in, Portsmouth is 6.1 miles away, Chichester 9.1 across the county line in West Sussex and Petersfield 10.5, and the bus station by the shopping centre has routes to Hayling Island, Waterlooville and Emsworth as well.
