Take the Gosport Ferry to a first date
Gosport has no railway station and gets by fine without one: the Gosport Ferry crosses to Portsmouth Harbour station, the end of the line from London, and it's very well used. That puts Portsmouth and Southsea, both under two miles away, practically on your doorstep.
On your own side of the water, the Millennium Timespace, a big sundial on the harbour front, is an easy landmark to meet by, and Stokes Bay, where the River Alver runs into the Solent, makes a good walk once the ice is broken. Fareham is four and a half miles away if your match lives there. However you get there, make the first meeting a public one and let a mate know where you've gone.
