No-strings hook ups for adults in Cowes and across the Medina.

Hook ups in Cowes, in regatta week and out of it

Cowes gives its name to Cowes Week, one of the oldest regular regattas in the world, held every year in the first week of August.

The town has been a home for international yacht racing since the Royal Yacht Squadron was founded in 1815, and powerboat racing came along later. Around 14,400 people live here, on the west bank of the River Medina, facing East Cowes on the other side; the Floating Bridge, a chain ferry, links the two. A lot of the buildings still show off the ornate style that was all the rage in Victorian times.

So Cowes has two moods. When the regatta's on, sailors arrive from far and wide; for the rest of the year it's an island town where it pays to be a little discreet. A profile that shows only your username and your nearest town suits both.

Island and mainland matches within 25 miles of Cowes

A 25-mile circle from Cowes takes in a lot more than the island. About a third of our members in it are women. Those aged 35 to 44 lead with a little over a third of the total; the 25 to 34s are close to three in ten, and nearly three in ten are 45 or over, while fewer than one in ten is under 25. On the island, members come from Yarmouth; over the water, from Southampton, Eastleigh and Ringwood, from Portsmouth, and from Chichester, Bosham and Selsey.

Your first Cowes meet-up, on the island or off it

A match across the Medina

East Cowes is half a mile away on the opposite bank, and the chain ferry makes it the shortest trip there is from here. Handy if your match lives there, and just as handy if neither of you wants to meet on your own side of the river.

A match on the mainland

Gosport is under eight miles away, Portsmouth a little over nine and Southampton just under eleven, but any crossing takes planning. Agree who's coming to whom, know how you're getting back before you set off, and make the first meeting somewhere public.

In August a regatta crowd makes for an easy public first meeting. The rest of the year, our safety page covers what to do if anyone oversteps.
