Central Grimsby keeps its shops between the railway and the River Freshney. It started life as the Riverhead Centre, named for the spot where the Freshney and the Haven meet, before a redevelopment doubled it in size under a glass roof.

The A16 runs to Louth, 14 miles away, and the A46 to Lincoln, 45 miles to the south-west.
