Earlston Hookups: Earlston Women Want to Meet

Small-town flirting and no-strings fun for adults in Earlston and Lauderdale, with Galashiels and Kelso close by.

A small town with a sense of humour

Earlston Golf Club has a Moon Course, and that tells you something about the town.

The club was founded in 1906. In 1917 its course was ploughed up to grow food for the war effort, and it has kept up its outings and competitions at other courses to this day. Then, in 2000, the committee agreed to look into buying land on the Moon for a course of its own, and the Moon Course was established that November.

The rest of Earlston is more down to earth: a historic market town that used to sit in Berwickshire, with about 1,800 people on the River Leader in Lauderdale. It has a rugby club, a tennis club, a bowling club and a football team called Earlston Rhymers, named after a local poet. In a town this small, a hookup with someone from the tennis club or the bowling club has its complications, so it pays to look beyond the town itself. Still, a place that can send its golf club to the Moon has room for a little flirting.

A wide circle, with Edinburgh and Dundee in it

Within 60 miles of Earlston, eight in ten of our members are between 25 and 54. The 25 to 34s make up a third, the 35 to 44s a quarter and the 45 to 54s about one in five. The under-25s come to one in eight, while members over 55 are thin on the ground. Women make up a little over four in ten, which beats the UK-wide three in ten. The circle takes in Edinburgh and Corstorphine, Dundee and Ladybank, and Hamilton, East Kilbride and Cambuslang, so a match could live 30 miles away or nearly 60.

Somewhere to meet that isn't your own street

Galashiels is only five miles away, which makes it the easy option for a drink, and Kelso is almost ten. Hawick is about fifteen, so the travelling can be split between you without anyone feeling put upon. Edinburgh is 29 miles off, which is a proper drive, but it is worth it for an evening in the capital.
