Dalkeith Hookups: Dalkeith Women Want to Meet

From Eskbank to Newbattle, no-strings fun for adults in Dalkeith, with Edinburgh six miles up the road.

Pick your corner of Dalkeith: the centre, Eskbank, Woodburn or Newbattle

Dalkeith is the main administrative centre for Midlothian, a historic market town on the River Esk with about 15,000 people. It became a burgh of barony in 1401 and a burgh of regality in 1541, and it grew south-westwards from a 12th-century castle that is now Dalkeith Palace. The town divides into four distinct areas:

Dalkeith proper
The town centre and historic core, and the easiest place for a first meeting because everyone can find it.
Eskbank, to the west
Large Victorian houses, with newer ones among them.
Woodburn, to the east
Council housing with pockets of new homes, and the Dalkeith Campus, built in 2003, which includes community leisure facilities.
Newbattle, to the south
A semi-rural village with its own abbey, for the days you would rather walk than sit in a bar.

Eskbank and Woodburn sit on opposite sides of the centre, so ask which side your match is on before you choose a spot.

Close to four in ten members near Dalkeith are women

Dalkeith's 60-mile circle holds members in Edinburgh, only a few miles up the road, and in Glasgow, Paisley, Cambuslang, Kilmarnock, Ladybank and Dundee, a lot of ground for a town of 15,000. Close to four in ten are women, against three in ten across the site. Two in three members are between 25 and 44, led by the 25 to 34s at a third, and even the smallest age bands hold about one in nine each.

Plenty of middle ground, about six miles from Dalkeith

Dalkeith is twinned with Jarnac in France, and in 2004 the council re-paved Jarnac Court to mark the link, but nobody needs a passport for a first meeting. Tranent and Prestonpans are both 5.7 miles away and Edinburgh about six and a half, so there is a fair choice of middle ground whichever side your match lives on. Juniper Green is about eight miles off, and Peebles, over in the Borders, is the long run at around 17.

Keep the first meeting public, and make it a spot your match can't miss. Send a friend the details, and see our safety page for the rest.
