Derbyshire Hookups: Derbyshire Women Want to Meet

No-strings fun for adults from Derby to the Peak District, and Chesterfield to Swadlincote.

Peak District walks, Derby nights out

Derbyshire is really two counties in one. The north and centre are hill country, most of the Peak District National Park, topped by Kinder Scout at 636 metres. The eastern half is more crowded, and that's where the big towns sit.

Derby, in the south-east, is the largest place, home to about a third of the county's people at the 2011 census. Chesterfield is in the north-east and Swadlincote in the south, while the spa town of Buxton and Glossop sit up in the north-west and Matlock is near the middle. The River Derwent, the county's longest at 66 miles, runs south through the lot to join the Trent just below Derby. About 1.1 million people live here in all.

Down near Swadlincote, Church Flatts Farm at Coton in the Elms is the furthest point from the sea anywhere in the UK, so nobody here is planning a beach date. The upside is that the Peak is on the doorstep instead.

Plenty of 18 to 24s, and a strong showing over 55

Ages pull in two directions among our members in and around Derbyshire. The 18 to 24s are the largest group, close to four in ten, yet the over-55s come to about one in six, nearly twice their share across the site, and three in ten members in all are 45 or older. Roughly a fifth are women. Derby, Chaddesden and Castle Donington feature on the list of members' home towns, as do Nottingham, Sheffield, Rotherham and Kimberworth.

Meeting halfway between the Peak and the cities

Meet in the middle
Matlock sits just over two miles from the centre of the county, with Wirksworth, Clay Cross, Chesterfield, Alfreton and Belper all within about eleven miles of the same spot. Any of them makes a fair halfway point.
Pick a match day
A Derby County or Chesterfield home game gives you a crowd, a talking point and an easy exit if you need one.
Head for the hills
Buxton, the spa town up in the north-west, is the place to aim for if you'd rather meet among the hills, with the Peak District close by for a walk on the second date.

Derbyshire hookups, north and south

Is Derbyshire the North or the Midlands?

Officially it's the East Midlands, but Chesterfield and Glossop are often counted as northern, and the north-east of the county even gets its regional TV news from Leeds. Your matches ignore all that and go on distance, so someone in Sheffield can be as close to you as someone in Derby.

I live in a Peak District village. Is it worth joining?

If you're happy to travel a bit, yes. Our members around Derbyshire come from places like Derby, Sheffield and Nottingham, so give your actual nearest town and plan on meeting in Matlock, Buxton or Chesterfield rather than on your own doorstep.
