A big share of Cullompton works somewhere else. It's a town of about 10,500 people on the River Culm, 13 miles north-east of Exeter, with some manufacturing still going in its flour and paper mills, but plenty of residents head off each morning. If there is, the conservation area in the middle of town is right there for a stroll while you decide what happens next.
For an evening, Bradninch is two and a half miles away and Tiverton about five and a half, while Honiton is just under ten and Exeter about 11. Taunton, over in Somerset, is about 17.
