Waltham Forest isn't a town, it's a borough, stitched together in 1965 from Leyton, Walthamstow and Chingford. Chingford is the main centre in the north, Walthamstow sits in the middle, and Leyton and Leytonstone share the south. The name comes from a Royal Forest that once managed deer in south-west Essex.
