Almost everything in Portrush's old town fits on a peninsula one mile long. Ramore Head carries the railway station and most of the hotels, restaurants and bars, so a night out here is a stroll rather than a plan. When everything is that close together, the walk from one place to the next becomes part of the date. As a resort it draws visitors too, so the person you meet might be here for a weekend or live round the corner. Either way, say plainly what you're both after.

The name is Irish for 'port of the promontory', and the 2021 census counted 6,150 people in this small seaside resort on the north coast of County Antrim, with another resort, Portstewart, next door in County Londonderry. The town is known for three sandy beaches and for Royal Portrush Golf Club, which has hosted The Open in 1951, 2019 and 2025.

The men run young, the women a little older

Across the UK, which is what the bars below show, 18 to 24 is the largest age group among the men, at a little over a third of them, while about half of the women are 25 to 34. Women make up about three in ten of members overall. Portrush is small, so expect a match to come from beyond the peninsula. The station is an easy landmark for meeting someone who is coming in, and in the evening the hotels, restaurants and bars are all within that one mile, so you can keep the first date public from start to finish. If your date is staying at a hotel, meet in a public place first rather than going to their room.
