Knighton's railway station is in England. The rest of the town is in Wales.

A small part of this market town on the River Teme crosses the border into the Shropshire parish of Stowe, and the station sits in that part. Border towns do that. Knighton, Tref-y-clawdd in Welsh, began as an Anglo-Saxon settlement, sits on the ancient earthwork that divided the two countries, later became a Norman defensive border town, and was once part of Radnorshire. Around 3,700 people live here now, which is enough for a market town and not enough to hide in, so many of the people worth meeting will be a drive away, on either side of the line.

Choose your side. Stay in Wales with Llandrindod Wells or Newtown, both about 16 miles off, or step into Shropshire at Clun, under six miles away.
Or go further into England. Ludlow is about 14 miles from Knighton and Leominster about 15, in Herefordshire.
