Portholme Meadow is Huntingdon's big open space, shared with Godmanchester and Brampton. At 257 acres it is the largest meadow in England and the only known British home of the marsh dandelion. The town beside it was given its charter in 1205 and served as the county town of Huntingdonshire, back when that was still a county.
