Hemel Hempstead Hookups: Hemel Hempstead Women Want to Meet

Casual meets in Hemel Hempstead, from the Old Town in the valley to the New Town above it.

Old Town charm, New Town room in Hemel Hempstead

Hemel Hempstead is two towns stacked on top of each other. The Old Town sits in a shallow chalk valley where the Gade and the Bulbourne meet, and people have lived there since at least the 8th century; it got its charter in 1539. After the Second World War the place was made a New Town, and the new streets climbed the valley sides onto the plateau above. Nearly 96,000 people live here now, 24 miles north-west of London, and if the Old Town doesn't turn up anyone interesting, there's a whole New Town up the hill.

A town that size gives you room to browse without every second profile turning out to be someone you know. Round the edges the countryside takes over: the Bulbourne runs past Boxmoor on the south-western side, farmland and woods stretch north and west into the Chilterns, and Watford and the start of Greater London begin to the south. If you fancy a daytime first meeting, the top of Roughdown Common, a chalk hill south of town, gives a view of the whole place laid out.

More women than average near Hemel Hempstead

Over a third of the members within 25 miles of Hemel Hempstead are women, against three in ten across the whole site, and the young end is crowded. Two in three of that circle are under 35, with a few more aged 25 to 34 than 18 to 24, and one in five is 35 to 44. Only about one in nine is 45 or older, so if you're past that mark the pool is smaller than the site-wide picture. The circle is wide enough to take in London and Milton Keynes, Luton, Harlow, Watford, Uxbridge, Hounslow and London Colney.
