A five guinea note from 1799 is in the British Museum now. The town behind it is a Suffolk market town of about 4,700 people, on a tributary of the Blyth nine miles upstream from Southwold. The narrow-gauge railway to Southwold ran until 1929, and these days the town museum is housed in the railway station.
