Barton-upon-Humber Hookups: Barton-upon-Humber Women Want to Meet

Casual sex for adults in Barton and over the bridge in Hull.

Barton hookups at the foot of the Humber Bridge

One bridge and about six miles separate Barton-upon-Humber from Kingston upon Hull. The town, Barton to most people, sits on the south bank of the Humber Estuary at the southern end of the bridge, with Scunthorpe to the south-west, Grimsby to the south-east and Lincoln, the county town, 31 miles to the south. Around 11,000 people lived here at the 2011 census.

A town that size with a city that close gives you two kinds of hookup. Keep it local and Barton still has at least seven pubs open for a first drink, despite losing a dozen or more over the years, the Steam Packet among them, pulled down in 1848 to make way for the railway. Cross the water instead and you can meet in Hull, away from faces you know. And if your idea of a second date involves walking boots, the Viking Way begins near the bridge.

Train, bus or bridge: meeting up from Barton

Barton is better connected than its size suggests. The branch line from Cleethorpes, open since 1849, runs through Grimsby and ends at Barton-on-Humber station, and buses link the town with Hull, Scunthorpe, Grimsby and Cleethorpes. Drivers have the A15, which passes the west of the town through Beacon Hill, the A1077 Ferriby Road out to South Ferriby, and the B1218, which runs north to south through the middle and on to Barton Waterside.

The town's own calendar gives you a reason to be out, too. Bike Night, a yearly social evening built around motorcycles, has run since 1997, and Barton has held an arts festival every year since 1998. Both are public, sociable settings for meeting someone new, with enough going on that the conversation never has to carry the whole evening.

Members from Hull to Leeds in Barton's wide circle

Barton is small, so the picture that helps is a wide one: our members within 60 miles. That circle crosses the estuary to Hull and takes in Leeds, Bradford, Sheffield, Rotherham, Nottingham and Skegness. Close to two-fifths of that crowd is 18 to 24 and more than a quarter 25 to 34, which leaves two-thirds under 35, while the over-45s come to about a fifth. Roughly a quarter are women, slightly below the site as a whole.

Hookups over the bridge and on this side of it

Kingston upon Hull is the big neighbour, about six miles away over the bridge, and the natural choice when you want a bigger night out. On the Lincolnshire side, Brigg is under ten miles from Barton, Immingham under eleven and Scunthorpe under twelve, while the East Riding towns of Hedon and Beverley are both under eleven. Market Weighton and Crowle are within 17, and the locations page has every town further afield.

Of all the places our members near Barton come from, Hull is the closest by a long way; Sheffield, Rotherham, Leeds and Bradford are all a proper drive. That makes the bridge the obvious first move, and a first drink on the Hull side an easy way to keep things away from your own high street.

Before you cross the bridge

Can I get to a date in Hull without a car?

Yes. Buses link Barton with Hull, as well as with Scunthorpe, Grimsby and Cleethorpes, so check when the last one leaves before you head out.

Where does the train from Barton go?

Barton-on-Humber is the end of the branch line that runs through Grimsby to Cleethorpes, which puts a match in either town within reach without driving. For Hull, the bus is simpler.

What can we do on a second date round Barton?

Walk a stretch of the Viking Way, which starts near the bridge, or time it for Bike Night or the yearly arts festival. When you want somewhere bigger, Hull is six miles off.
