Hastings Hookups: Hastings Women Want to Meet

No-strings fun for adults in Hastings and St Leonards, with Bexhill-on-Sea and Battle close by.

The battle was eight miles away; the action is in Hastings

Hastings lent its name to the famous battle of 1066 without hosting it: the fighting took place eight miles to the north west, at Senlac Hill. What the town did get was a place among the medieval Cinque Ports, a Victorian heyday as a resort once the railway brought the visitors, and a fishing fleet that still works from the beach. Tall cliffs close it off to the east, and the Old Town sits in a sheltered valley between East Hill and West Hill, with the castle ruins on West Hill.

Over the years the town has spread west and north until it merges with St Leonards-on-Sea, which began in the early 19th century as an elegant new town for the well-off, with a public garden at its heart. Ore, Silverhill and Hollington, once villages, have been swallowed up too. All told there are more than 90,000 people here, which is plenty to keep a hookup low-key. If you came looking for dating in Hastings, this is the no-strings kind: adults who want sex without the commitment, whether that's one night together or something more regular.

Who's looking, from Brighton to Canterbury

The Hastings picture leans young. Inside a 40-mile circle, roughly three in ten of our members are 18 to 24 and slightly more are 25 to 34, so six in ten are under 35. Another fifth are 35 to 44, a final fifth are older, and fewer than one in ten has passed 55. About one in four is a woman, a little below the share across the site, so it pays to be patient and let your daily matches do the legwork. Members live in Brighton, Burgess Hill, Tonbridge, Sevenoaks, Ashford, Canterbury and Chatham.

Close enough for tonight: Bexhill-on-Sea, Battle and beyond

Bexhill-on-Sea is under five miles away and Battle six, which makes either one a comfortable middle for a first meeting. Eastbourne, Hailsham and Polegate are all about 14 or 15 miles off, and Tenterden, Lydd and New Romney, over the border in Kent, are 15 to 18. Meet in town or split the trip, but keep that first drink public and short enough to leave.

Every one of those places has a page of its own, and the locations page lists the rest.
