Epworth Hookups: Epworth Women Want to Meet

No-strings fun for adults in Epworth, from the church on the hill to the A161.

Hookups in Epworth, where even the rectory has a ghost story

Epworth is described as the Home of Methodism, and it carries the title in stone. There is a Methodist church in the centre, built in 1888, and the parish church stands on a hill above the town, with parts that may go back to the late 12th century. The Old Rectory was rebuilt after a fire in 1709 and is now kept as a museum, and it comes with a ghost story too, from some supposed goings-on in 1716.

Strip the history away and you have a market town of about 4,400 people on the A161, roughly halfway between Goole and Gainsborough. A church on a hill is a landmark you can give in one word, and it keeps a first meeting where other people can see you. Members see your username and your nearest town, so anything else people learn about you is up to you.

From Hull to Wakefield, a third are 35 or over

Within 40 miles of Epworth, four in ten of our members are 18 to 24 and a fifth or so are 25 to 34, which leaves just over a third aged 35 or over. Roughly a quarter are women. On a map that circle takes in Hull and Leeds, Sheffield and Doncaster, Scunthorpe, Rotherham, Barnsley and Wakefield, and our members come from every one of those. Epworth itself is small, so the circle does the heavy lifting and your daily matches narrow it down.

Epworth without a car: buses to Doncaster and Scunthorpe

Epworth's own railway station closed to passengers in 1933 and its site is a farm store now, and Haxey's, on the Doncaster to Lincoln line, shut in 1964. The nearest mainline station is in Crowle, five and a half miles away. Buses fill the gap, with services to Doncaster, Scunthorpe and Haxey, so find out when the last one leaves before you agree a time.

Driving, Scunthorpe is about eight miles off and Gainsborough about ten, and either makes a fair halfway point. Whichever you choose, tell a friend which town you're heading for and how you're getting back, and read the safety page before you go.
